RESEARCH & EVIDENCE

Build the evidence before making the claim.

This page records what Kmeggie+ has demonstrated, what remains untested, and how we intend to evaluate the product.

At least 224

bioinformaticians are estimated to be immediately needed across African public-health genomics facilities.

The estimate appears in a 2025 Nature Medicine article by Africa CDC and University of Cape Town researchers. It describes a continent-wide workforce need; it is not a Kmeggie+ impact result.

EVIDENCE LEDGER

What we can say today.

DEMONSTRATED

Functional FASTQ validation prototype

Current prototypes parse supported FASTQ files, report read count, total bases, and read length, and reject structural errors.

DEMONSTRATED

Browser QC analysis

The live demo calculates quality, composition, length, N-content, and duplicate summaries on the user’s device.

EARLY FEEDBACK

Positive technician reception

The concept has been presented to laboratory professionals. Structured in-person research and a first signed pilot remain pending.

NOT YET PUBLISHED

Comparative validation

Kmeggie+ has not published benchmark results against FastQC, MultiQC, or validated diagnostic workflows.

VALIDATION AGENDA

The studies we need to run.

  1. 01

    Correctness

Compare core metrics and error detection against hand-checked fixtures and established tools.

  2. 02

    Performance

Measure runtime, memory use, file limits, and failure behaviour on representative laboratory hardware.

  3. 03

    Usability

Observe laboratory technicians completing real review tasks and document where explanations or workflows fail.

  4. 04

    Deployment fit

Evaluate offline use, updates, support, provenance, and reporting within institutional laboratory processes.

CURRENT TECHNICAL NOTES

Open methods, visible limits.
